"For my sister" is a novel by the Ukrainian writer Volodymyr Tchaikovsky, published in 1926. The book tells the story of a young man who decides to leave his native village and go to the city to look for his sister, who has gone missing there. In search of his sister, the main character goes through many adventures and meets different people who reveal to him the dark sides of the life of the urban poor and the working class. The author depicts the social problems of that time, such as poverty, unemployment, discrimination and violence, and also shows how a person is forced to fight for his place in life. "Za sestrou" is an important work of Ukrainian literature that reflects the complexity of the social situation at that time and shows how it affects the lives of ordinary people.
