The layout of a glossy magazine requires careful preparation, as the quality of the printing, color accuracy, and the overall impression of the publication depend on it. To ensure the printing process goes smoothly and without technical revisions, please take the following basic requirements into account.
- General Requirements
- Only fully finished layouts are accepted for printing, or you can order typesetting/design for your future magazine;
- The interior content must be submitted in PDF format, page by page (not as spreads);
- If the layout is prepared as spreads, we can correctly split it into pages (service cost: 150 UAH);
- The cover is accepted in PDF / PNG / JPG formats (ideally PNG for better quality);
- Multi-page files must be compiled into a single document with the correct page order;
- The total number of pages must be even;
- For stapled magazines, the number of pages must be a multiple of 4; otherwise, blank pages may appear at the end.
Adhering to these requirements ensures the exact result expected from a high-quality glossy magazine—sharp printing, rich colors, and a polished look on every page. - Formats and Sizes
- The most common magazine format is A4; A5 and B5 are also practical options;
- If your layout has non-standard proportions, we can help you choose the optimal format or perform accurate scaling without losing quality. - Recommended margins
- Inner margins: at least 10–15 mm;
- Bleed: 3–5 mm;
- Margins from the spine (for multi-page magazines): 10–20 mm;
- Top/bottom margins: at least 10 mm;
- Page numbers, headers and footers: place no closer than 8–10 mm.
Adhering to these margins ensures that text and key elements are preserved—they will not be cut off during trimming or hidden in the binding area. - Technical specifications
- Color model: CMYK;
- File size up to 1000 MB;
- Optimal image resolution: 300 dpi for clarity and detail;
- The layout must be prepared without crop marks, watermarks, comments, or extraneous elements;
- It is recommended to convert all fonts to curves to avoid display issues during printing.
Adherence to these parameters ensures consistent print quality and compliance of the layout with printing standards. - Cover
- Place text, logos, and other important elements at least 10–15 mm from the edges to prevent them from being cut off after printing;
- Text can be placed on the spine if the block thickness is 10 mm or more. - Lamination
- Glossy — default (included in the price);
- Matte — +15 UAH/copy. - Important details
- Be sure to include a (bleed) of 3–5 mm on each side—this is necessary for proper trimming of the layout without white edges;
- A minor technical margin of error in printing and cutting within 1–2 mm is allowed, so important elements should not be placed right up against the edges.
These details will help maintain the polished look of a glossy magazine and avoid unexpected defects in the final print run. - Additional Services
- Preparing the layout for printing (cover design, font selection, magazine layout);
- File verification before production.
If you are preparing glossy magazines for printing, we will help adapt the layout for print, check all technical details, and make corrections as needed. This will ensure a high-quality result and make the finished product look neat, modern, and professional.
